Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal is now possible due to the advent of Q-switched lasers that have a very low chance of scarring.  The laser removes the tattoo ink with the energy of light.  Tattoo ink is removed by using a specific wavelength of light which passes into the skin, but is absorbed by the ink.  The rapid absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to break into tiny particles which can then be removed by the body's natural filtering systems.

We use the MedLite® laser to remove tattoo's. Medlite® can remove professional, amateur (homemade), traumatic and surgical tattoo's. It works best on black and red inks. On average, tattoo's take approximately 6-20 treatments. The treatments are always spaced about 6-8 weeks apart.

Common Questions

Does the tattoo completely disappear?

It's realistic to say that 95% of the tattoo will be faded. It's important to keep in mind that tattoo ink and tattoo application is not regulated by the FDA; this makes it impossible to predict the exact amount of removal that you can expect but we'll do our best to give you an accurate idea.

Is it painful?

Many say that the procedure is not painful but does feel like a rubber band snapping on the skin.  Different body parts have different levels of sensitivity so it will depend on where the tattoo is located.  Anesthetics are available.
